Enterprise data loss prevention

Cloud apps have changed the way people work. For enterprise information security and compliance teams, this can be a challenge. The legacy data loss prevention (DLP) approach doesn’t scale. Enterprise companies need a more intelligent solution.

More work is done in collaborative SaaS apps

Software-as-a-service (SaaS) apps like Slack, Google Drive, Microsoft Teams, and GitHub are integral parts of enterprise employees’ workflows. These cloud-based tools enable remote, distributed teams to collaborate and do their work more efficiently. However, the quantity of and rapid pace at which data is shared makes it difficult for information security and compliance teams to monitor and manage.

The legacy DLP approach doesn’t scale

Past data loss prevention (DLP) solutions don’t work well in this new era of information exchange. The high volume of data and noise, or unnecessary alerts, prevent information security and compliance teams from addressing real risks. It’s hard to identify true data policy violations and all violations are treated equally—no matter how egregious.

Legacy DLP approach

Polymer is smart DLP for the enterprise

Polymer DLP is built for the modern workflow and integrates with the SaaS apps your employees use most. You can classify sensitive data based on your data policy and monitor for violations 24/7.

Polymer smart DLP approach

Classification

Polymer classifies data as sensitive based on your data policy. Tailor your data map to include:

  • PII
  • PHI
  • Credit card numbers
  • Bank numbers
  • Financial information
  • VINs
  • Custom PII/PHI

Most common file types are supported such as: TXT, XML, JSON, PDF, JPEG, PNG, DOC(X), XLS, PPT(X)

Monitoring

Polymer audits and continuously monitors your SaaS app.

  • Who shared sensitive data?
  • Does the shared message/file violate your data governance policy?
  • Who can access that shared message/file?
  • How risky is the sharing event?

Risk Computation

Polymer applies natural language processing (NLP), machine learning (ML), and regular expression (regex) to pinpoint data policy violations in the cloud and reduce false alerts.

User Groups

In Polymer, you can define user groups that should have access to sensitive data. This allows certain teams to un-redact or share messages and files containing sensitive data based on the group settings.

Auto-remediation

Polymer remediates data policy violations automatically, often when the violation occurs.

  • Redacts sensitive data within messages, files, and codebase in near real time
  • Expires public/internal/restricted links based on file contents (immediately or in a set number of days)
  • Nudges user (optional)*

*40% reduction in risky shares in one month when employees are notified of policy violations

Reports

Polymer provides detailed reports about what sensitive data is in your SaaS apps and who is exposing it. Polymer assigns employees a Risk Score based on their individual behavior. This factors in:

  • Frequency – Number of violations
  • Severity – Amount of sensitive data in each violation
  • Age – Recent violations carry more weight than past violations
  • Suspicious Activity (coming soon)
